Dagfinn Bernstein (1928 -2001)

Dagfinn Bernstein was born in Oslo on 22 January 1928 as the youngest child of Mendel Bernstein (b. 1890 in Malmö) and Elise (b. Kazerginsky, 1890 in Oslo). In November 1942 he fled with his mother to Sweden, where he began at The Norwegian Gymnasium in Uppsala. The teachers at the gymnasium were Norwegian refugees, among them a Jewish (Oscar Mendelsohn). From 1942 to 1945, a total of 197 students graduated from The Norwegian Gymnasium in Uppsala. 

Dagfinn Bernstein later studied engineering, and was from 1959 employed at NRK Television (from 1962 as head of television's Plan and construction department. In the years 1965 to 1967 and from 1967 to 1969 he was respectively vice president and president of Scandinavian Jewish Youth Association.
Dagfinns brother Ernst Sigmund Bernstein (b. 1922) was deported on November 26 with the ship Donau and perished in Auschwitz. His parents and two other siblings survived.
The diploma was awarded Dagfinn Bernstein as participant in athletics day in Berga, Sweden on 26 to 27 August 1944.
