Lecture: Women's memories of a Jewish life in North Africa
Lecture by Nina Lichtenstein, who recalls memories of Jewish women who left
North Africa from the 1950s and beyond. She tracks their seafaring heritage, role as women and experiences of living in exile.
Lichtenstein was born and raised in Norway, but has lived in Connecticut, USA for the last 30 years. In addition to her work at the University of Connecticut, she is a freelance writer, and runs the blog The Viking Jewess. She is also working on the project "Tribal Matters: Diaries of a Viking Jewess".
